I start the blog.
I take a break.
I apologize
and ...
I start all over again.
Let me assure you that I'm NOT trying to mess with you. I actually am trying to get into a rhythm of working, being a father & husband, and writing, but its very hard when you're making an international transition. Seriously hard.
Anyway, enough whining.
As you well know I have taken the role of Director of Outreach at a church in Cali. I am very excited about the job because, well, it lets me do what I'm good at. Connecting with people and sharing a bit about what it means to follow Jesus. An added bonus is I get to encourage and equip others to do the same.
Today I was tasked with writing a brief piece about what it looks like to Love Your Neighborhood because, well, that's what we are called to do! So here goes...
When people find out that I was coaching football in Costa Rica and, well, using football as a ministry they almost always ask:
“Did you bring football to Costa Rica?”I gotta tell you the truth, I totally want to tell them I did! I would love to say that I was the Christopher Columbus of the gridiron. I picture myself arriving on the shore sporting some shoulder pads with a tall ship anchored in the background. Can you picture me hopping onto dry ground with my helmet in hand as a group of natives bowing down to my massive frame, tossing handmade trinkets at me in an effort to teach them how to tackle?Everything in me wants to say, “Why yes I did bring football to Costa Rica!”, but the truth is I didn’t.
Check out the rest over at Lakeside Life, the new online community of our home church, Lakeside. Feel free to head over and leave a comment!
